1. What is the name of your shop? peggradyart 2. What kind of items do you sell? mostly embroidered towels and art dolls - all edgy not cute 3. How long have you been engaged in your art/craft? on and off my whole life 4. Do you consider yourself a hobbyist or a professional craftsperson? professional but mostly a professional artist (painter). I've just begun to sell my crafts. 5. What inspires you? I'll get an idea for a doll. I envision her (they're usually female) in her life, almost like I'm writing her biography. She's usually middle aged and weird. Hmm. Perhaps there are some autobiographical things going on here. For my towels...it's almost always a quote that expresses something that makes me laugh. And I embroider the quote on the towel. | 6. Please share with us what a typical day is like in your workshop or studio? typical? Coffee. Thinking, then pacing, then thinking, then sketching, then finally grabbing either a paint brush or some fabric and going for it. 7. What keeps you company while you are working on a project? Music. My partner's a musician so I listen to his stuff, or else our local independent radio station KPIG. 8. What is your favorite 'task' related to your art/craft? Other than when I get an idea and a big grin at the same time and realize I've got a winner, I love searching out the perfect fabric/yarn/whatever I'm making the doll from. | 9. What is your least favorite 'task' related to your art/craft? Cleaning up. 10. Would you care to share any 'words of wisdom' with other aspiring artists or crafters? Yes, don't listen to anyone's words of wisdom. 11. Would you care to share some other information about yourself and/or your shop that i have not asked about? Please tell us here. Well, I used to be a prison guard. I ran into a bear on a walk a couple of weeks ago. I'm originally from NYC and now live in California 8 miles from the nearest town (of 1300 people). I'm a two time cancer survivor so really nothing much scares me anymore. http:// www.peggradyart.com |
